Hartford Welcomes 14 Newcomers for 2013 Lacrosse Season

Matt Figueroa Roslyn, Pa. Abington High School Midfield
Figueroa is Hartford's second member of the class of 2016 who attended Abington Senior High School, joining former teammate and now Hawk, Chris Duffy. A 5-9, 180 pound midfielder, Figueroa wrapped up his high school career earning First- Team Suburban One League National All-League honors for the second-straight season in addition to 2012 All-State and Second-Team All-Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association accolades. He was recognized with those honors after netting 56 goals and assisting on 22 others for 78 points as a senior. The team's MVP in 2011, he was part of a squad that advanced to the District 1 quarterfinals and captured an undefeated Suburban One National Conference championship, marking the third undefeated league title for Figueroa and the Ghosts' fifth-straight. Figueroa is enrolled in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions.

Austin Gorman Rochester, N.Y. Monroe Community College Attack
A 5-10, 165 pound attackman hailing from Rochester, N.Y., Gorman brings an accomplished resume that includes experience at the junior college level to Hartford. Gorman transfers to the Hawks from Monroe Community College where he spent one season following his graduation from Aquinas Institute in 2010. Gorman enjoyed an illustrious season at Monroe Community College after racking up 105 points, third-most in the nation at the National Junior College Athletic Association level, on 58 goals and 47 assists. Those numbers helped him earn a series of honors including All-WNYAC First Team, All-Region III First Team and All-American Second Team. At Aquinas Institute, he was a member of a squad that finished 17-4 and won the Section V Championship in 2010. An all-league first team and All-Greater First Team honoree that year, he was also named to the Section V (Class C) All-Tournament Team and earned a spot on the Rochester US Lacrosse Senior All-Star game roster. Furthermore, he concluded his high school career by making the cut for the D&C All-Greater Rochester Super 16 list. During his four-year career, Gorman recorded 180 goals and 143 assists, totaling 323 points. Gorman is enrolled in the Barney School of Business.

Brad Hutton Webster, N.Y. Monroe Community College Midfield
Hutton, a 6-3, 175 pound midfielder, comes to Hartford after playing two years at Monroe Community College, where he played alongside Austin Gorman during his rookie season in 2011. That season, he racked up 18 goals and added 18 assists for 36 points. As a sophomore one year later, he nearly doubled his offensive production by registering 46 goals and 23 assists for 69 points. A team captain that year, he earned All-Region First Team honors and was a Region III Men's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team selection. Prior to starting his college career at Monroe, Hutton played three years of lacrosse at Webster Thomas High School where he helped pilot the team to a 14-4 record, including a 6-2 mark in conference play, as a senior in 2010. In that final year, he compiled 25 points on 17 goals and eight assists. Hutton is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Zack Jones Bridgewater, N.J. Bridgewater-Raritan High School Goalie
Jones, a three-year varsity lacrosse player from Bridgewater-Raritan High School, is the lone goalie to join the roster from this year's list of newcomers. After anchoring the defense of a team that capped a perfect 21-0 season in 2012 by capturing the Somerset County championship as well as the New Jersey Group 4 Championship, Jones earned a series of accolades including first-team all-area, All-Skyland Conference, All-Somerset County, all-state third team and Group 4 First Team. In addition, he was tabbed All-American by the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association, one of 20 players from the Garden State to earn the honor. Jones checks in at 5-10 and weighs 150 pounds. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
