Jaspers Add 10 Freshmen, Transfer to 2013 Lacrosse Roster
Izzarelli (Amston, Conn./Xavier) was a four year starter in high school and was named a Connecticut senior All-Star while also earning All-Conference and All-New Haven accolades as a long-stick midfielder. Also a defensive specialist is Bica (Irvington, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry) who was a member of the first ever boy's lacrosse team in school history as an eighth grader. After being named All-League, he is the first player in school history to play Division I men's lacrosse.
"Sam is a smart and athletic defensive player with a very good stick. Darien plays lacrosse like a linebacker. He has a very high motor and tremendous upside."
Strano (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) and Gitlitz (Centerport, N.Y./Chaminade) both played in the midfield in high school and will look for playing time in their rookie season. Strano was a three-year letterwinner at Rocky Point and was named a Brine/Adidas All-American as a senior along with earning a spot on the All-County and All-Division teams. Gitlitz was a four year player for Chaminade earning two letters in the midfield as well as also playing some long-pole.
"Three sport athletes are rare these days, but Nick pulled it off. He's an explosive two-way midfielder who can score and play great defense. Alex comes from an outstanding and storied program. He has solidified one of our few top spots at long-stick midfielder.
This class of Jaspers will join a group of 27 returning players from 2012 that looks to return to the MAAC Tournament for the first time since the 2010 season.
