Eleni Kozas Joins the Monmouth Lacrosse Coaching Staff

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth head lacrosse coach Denise Wescott has announced the hiring of former University of Louisville midfielder Eleni Kozas to her staff.

"Coming from the Louisville lacrosse program, I immediately know two things about Eleni," said Wescott. "That she was coached well by Kellie Young and she knows what it takes to play at a high level program and how hard you have to work. We are excited to have her join our staff to bring her knowledge and passion for the sport of lacrosse, and to help this program continue to get better."

Kozas will work primarily with the MU midfield along with assisting in recruiting efforts. She will also be involved with Monmouth's camps, clinics and community service efforts.

The Long Valley, New Jersey Native, appeared in 39 games for the Cardinals in the midfield. Kozas enjoyed a breakout senior season in which she finished third on the team in goals and points with 15 and 18 respectively earning All-Big East honorable mention. She played her prep lacrosse at West Morris Central High School, where she also lettered in soccer and basketball. Kozas was also a three-time All-Big East Honor Student in her time at Louisville.

Kozas has been active in the club coaching ranks, most recently serving as an assistant coach with Tri-State Club Lacrosse. She also was a four-year assistant coach with the Louisville Elite Lacrosse Club team and was a camp councilor at the Lousiville elite Lacrosse Summer Camp. In her roles with the Louisville Elite Club team she assisted the head coach in offensive game plan, helped identify top-talent and gained a deep knowledge for sport of lacrosse at all levels.

Most recently she was an intern with the Louisville Sports Performance Team where she assisted in training protocols for teams, including implementing specific training programs for injured athletes. She also gained a working knowledge of NCAA and Big East rules and regulations.

The Hawks, defending NEC Champions, start up the 2013 season on February 16 at home against Fairfield.
