Manhattan Announces Lacrosse Schedule for the 2013 Season

RIVERDALE, N.Y. Manhattan women's lacrosse coach Diane Haddeland announced the 17-game 2013 schedule today. Entering her second season at the helm, Haddeland has put together a slate that features eight matches at Gaelic Park.

"I'm really excited about this year's schedule and what it offers," said Haddeland. "We added some new teams that will test us and really get us prepared for the conference season."

The Jaspers will begin their 2013 campaign on the road when they travel to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers on Feb. 9 before opening their home schedule on Feb. 22 against Wagner.

After traveling to Brown (3/3) and hosting LIU Brooklyn (3/6), Manhattan will embark on a three game road trip with contests at Saint Joseph's (3/9), Albany (3/11), and Howard (3/17). The Great Danes are the two-time defending America East champions and participated in the NCAA Tournament in 2012. Meanwhile, the contest against Howard marks the first time the two schools will meet since the 2008 season and the fifth overall meeting.

Following their eight day road march, Gaelic Park will host three straight matches in late March. The Jaspers will welcome Central Connecticut State on March 19 before hosting Delaware State, in their inaugural season, on March 23 as well as Fresno State (3/29).

Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play will begin on April 3 when Manhattan makes the short trip to New Rochelle, N.Y. for a date with Iona. They will then host reigning tournament champion Canisius three days later on April 6, before visiting Marist on April 10.

The final home stand of the season features back-to-back games against Siena (4/13) and 2012 MAAC Regular Season Champions Fairfield (4/17). The Jaspers will conclude conference play on April 20 with a trip to Niagara. In their final game of the regular season, Manhattan visits New York City rival Columbia on April 27.

Marist College is the site of the 2013 MAAC Championships with the top four teams in the conference qualifying for the tournament, scheduled to be played May 3 and 5 at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.
