McCaffrey Named Lacrosse Assistant Coach at American

American University lacrosse interim head coach Emma Wallace has announced the hiring of Colleen McCaffrey as an assistant coach.

"I'm very excited to bring Colleen into the AU lacrosse program," said Wallace. "She has a great understanding of the game and will add new looks as she takes over offensive duties. Her enthusiasm and passion for lacrosse will be a great addition on and off the field."

McCaffrey graduated from Johns Hopkins University this past May with a degree in psychology. She started all 69 games in her career and ranks fourth in program history in goals (141), third in free position goals (30), third in draw controls (153), sixth in points (176) and 12th in assists (35). McCaffrey is a two-time IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team selection, three-time All-ALC Second Team and 2011 All-ALC First Team honoree. She also led the team in goals in her final two seasons with the Blue Jays.

McCaffrey was named a team captain during her senior season and was one of 24 athletes selected to the training team for the USA World Cup Lacrosse team in 2009. She was also a member of the 2007 U.S. Women's Under-19 Team, which won gold at the International World Championships. Academically, McCaffrey was a three-time Academic Honor Roll selection in her career and was also recognized on the 2011 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. She has served as the Head Coach of the Long Island Yellow Jackets travel lacrosse team since May 2009.

Prior to attending Johns Hopkins, McCaffrey was a three-time US Lacrosse All-American and two-time Scholar-Athlete at Mount Sinai High School in Mount Sinai, N.Y. She tallied more than 300 goals and 175 assists in her high school career and was a four-time All-League and All-County selection as she helped guide Mount Sinai to three Suffolk County Class C Finals.
