DiBetta Named Assistant Lacrosse Coach at U. of Scranton
University of Scranton men's lacrosse head coach Doug Sage announced recently that Brian DiBetta has been hired as assistant coach.
DiBetta, a 2012 graduate of Ithaca College with a bachelor's degree in business administration, was a standout midfielder for the Bombers during his career, finishing with 23 goals and 21 assists for 44 career points. He earned honorable mention all-Empire 8 Conference honors as a junior, and was named Ithaca's Men's Lacrosse Sportsman of the Year for the Empire 8 while serving as a team captain as a senior.
During his senior season, DiBetta scored 13 goals and had 10 assists while helping Ithaca crack the Top 25 late in the season en route to a 12-6 record and an appearance in the Empire 8 Conference championship.
DiBetta was also a standout in the classroom, earning a spot on the Empire 8 Presidents' List, which recognizes student-athletes with a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher. He was also a Dean's List student at Ithaca while being awarded the Flora Brown Memorial Award, presented for leadership and sportsmanship, as a freshman.
DiBetta is a native of Katonah, N.Y. and a graduate of John Jay High School in Cross River, N.Y.
The Royals are coming off a 2012 season in which they went 9-7 and reached the Landmark Conference playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons.
