JHU's 2013 Lacrosse Schedule Features Nine Ranked Teams

BALTIMORE, MD Johns Hopkins head coach Janine Tucker announced today the Blue Jays' 2013 schedule, which features eight home games, two nationally televised games, and the 2013 American Lacrosse Conference Tournament. Once again Hopkins faces a tough slate in 2013 as JHU will face nine teams that were ranked in the final IWLCA poll of 2012, including six NCAA Tournament teams.

Hopkins will play three straight home games and six of its first seven games within the friendly confines of Homewood Field. JHU will face Old Dominion in its season opener on February 16 in the first ever meeting between the two programs. Hopkins will then take on Mt. St. Mary's (February 20) and Bucknell (February 23) before making the short trip up Cold Spring Lane to take on Loyola under the lights on February 27.

Hopkins returns home and opens ALC play on March 9 against the defending NCAA Champion Northwestern. Four days later, the Blue Jays will host the Georgetown Hoyas on ESPNU at 5:30 pm. Hopkins wraps up the home stand on March 16 against George Washington. The Blue Jays then play three straight on the road, traveling to Towson (March 19), Princeton (March 23) and American (March 23), in a span of just eight days.

Vanderbilt visits Homewood Field on March 30 for an ALC tilt that closes out the month of March for both teams. Hopkins then hits the road for another three-game road swing. The trip begins on April 6 as the Blue Jays visit the defending ALC Champion Florida Gators. Hopkins then travels to Virginia (April 11) and UMBC (April 17) before returning home to host Penn State on ESPNU on April 21. The Blue Jays wrap up the regular season in Columbus against the Ohio State Buckeyes on April 28.

From May 2 to May 5, Hopkins will host the seventh ALC Tournament as the first school in the league to host the tournament twice. The Blue Jays hosted the inaugural tournament in 2007. The ALC Quarterfinals are slated for May 2, with the semifinals on May 3 and the championship game on May 5.
