Merrimack Signs Nine Recruits to Letters of Intent for the 2014

NORTH ANDOVER, MA Merrimack has signed nine student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period for the class of 2017.

"The Merrimack Men's Lacrosse program is very proud to announce the nine student athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent to join our class who will be joining us in the fall of 2013," said head coach Mike Morgan who will enter his sixth season in 2013. "This is a group of skilled, hard working athletes, all from great high school programs and we are excited as a staff to welcome them to our program. The growth and momentum of Merrimack College and our lacrosse program continues to allow us to recruit the best players from all over the country and now North of the border as well. Our staff is looking forward to have such a great group joining our roster next season"

In 2012, the Warriors recorded a 13-3 record, advancing to the Northeast-10 Conference final for the fourth consecutive season. Junior Corey Lunney (Little Silver, NJ) led the Warriors in scoring for the third consecutive season and was named NEILA Player of the Year along with being named first team All-American. Fellow junior Greg Melaugh (Billerica, Mass.) led the nation in goals per game (3.4) and was named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year along with being recognized as a second team All-American.

The Lunney-Melaugh combo was the highest scoring teammate combination in the country in 2012. The Warriors placed three players on the All-American team, most in a season under Morgan and the most in school history since the 2000 season when Merrimack had six All-Americans.

Student-Athletes that have signed NLI's for the 2013-14 season:

Max Allen, Attack, (Don Bosco H.S./West Caldwell, NJ)
All-Bergen County First Team..All-Gibbs First Team...Leading point scorer sophomore and junior year..three year starter ... 42 goals and 37 assists as a junior.

Morgan on Allen: "Max is an excellent scorer who also has great vision. He has the ability to get his own shot off the dodge and is one of the reasons Don Bosco has had the success they have had over the past two seasons. Max has played against some of the best teams in the country the past two seasons and has showed he can put up numbers consistently. We are looking for Max to come in and fight to contribute right away for us next year."

Spencer Bromley, Attack, (Earl Marriott Secondary/Surrey, BC)
Finished 8th in scoring in the BC intermediate box lacrosse league playing for the Richmond Roadrunners with 36 goals and 38 assists, on the way to becoming provincial league champions ... Played for the runner up South Fraser Warriors in the provincial U-16 championship tallying 16 goals and four assists in three games.

Morgan on Bromley: "Spencer has a great feel for the game and can finish as well as anyone we saw this summer. He has played for some of the best box teams up North and brings a very crafty field game as well. He adds a great inside presence to our team and should help us in that area next year."

Brennen Morin, Defense, (Minnechaug H.S./Bridgton Academy/Wilbraham, MA)
1st Team All Western Mass junior year ... .2nd Team Western Mass senior year ... Three year varsity starter ... Western Massachusetts Championship senior year ... 10 goals and three assists in his Minnechaug career.

Morgan on Morin: "Brennen is a very rangy and athletic defenseman with a very good stick. He is a solid cover guy and is very good in transition. He has great feet as well as very good off the ground. Brennen is athletic enough to cover all over the field when needed. He has the ability to come in and compete right away for time ."
