Grand Canyon Announces the Team's 2013 Lacrosse Captains
Grand Canyon University head coach Manny Rapkin has announced the captains for the 2013 season. Three men will lead the Antelopes: sophomores Carson Barton and Tate Linford and senior Chris McWilliams.
McWilliams, a 6'2" 195 pound senior from Canandaigua Academy (Canandaigua, NY) by way of Monroe Community College, led the Lopes midfield in 2012 with 17 goals and 9 assists. He was a first team all SLC conference midfielder in 2012 and will be completing his degree in Elementary Education this year.
Barton, a 5'10" 175 pound sophomore attack man from St. Francis Xavier Academy (Edmonton, Alberta) led the team in scoring in 2012 with 55 goals and 25 assists. He was a 2012 first team SLC attack man and is working toward a degree in physical education.
Linford, a 6'2" 195 pound defenseman from Riverton High School (Riverton, Utah) started every game for the Lopes in 2012 and collected 17 ground balls. He is working towards a degree in Biology.
GCU opens its season with a conference match-up with San Diego State University in San Diego, California.
