Niagara Welcomes Twelve Players for 2013 Lacrosse Season

Smith comes to Niagara a junior after spending the previous two years at Mohawk Valley. The Rome Free Academy graduate was a team captain with the Lady Hawks, leading the team in goals for two straight seasons. During her inaugural season, she led the squad with 51 goals and 13 assists, and wrapped up the season as the fourth-leading scorer in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Stevens, a graduate of Lake Shore Central in Lawtons, N.Y., was a Class C first team honoree in 2012. The three-year varsity starter helped lead the Eagles to a Section VI title and earned a trip to the Far West Regionals. Outside of high school, Stevens also played competitively with First Nations club lacrosse team.

Turpin will be a solid addition to the Purple Eagle offense. She comes to NU from Notre Dame College School of Welland, Ont. where she helped the Fighting Irish to back-to-back Ontario girls high school lacrosse championships (2011 & 2012). The senior co-captain had an impressive final two seasons at Notre Dame, scoring 25 goals and adding 73 assists for 98 points as a junior, followed by a 97-point season (20-77-97) her senior year.

Winter participated in the all-tournament team for the MSLA championships during her final three seasons at Nichols School. She was named most improved on the varsity squad as a senior. The Orchard Park, N.Y. native also led her team in points her junior season.

The Purple Eagles kick start the 2013 year with a pair of road games, starting with Temple on Feb. 16 and St. Joseph's on Feb. 17.
