Towson Selects Tri-Captains for the 2013 Lacrosse Season

TOWSON, Md. Towson seniors Alexa Demski (Loch Raven/Baltimore, Md.), Sarah Hogan (Brewster/Brewster, N.Y.) and redshirt junior Ashleigh Rohrback (Westminster/Westminster, Md.) have been selected as captains for the 2013 season, coach Sonia LaMonica announced.

"We have three great captains to lead our squad through this 2013 campaign," said LaMonica. "These athletes care deeply about our program and the players within it and they have worked extremely hard to embody all the characteristics that a captain should possess. I look forward to their great leadership this season."

Demski is coming off a stellar junior season that saw her earn third team All-American honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). She was a first team IWLCA All Mid-Atlantic Region honoree and a first team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) selection. Demski started the first 16 games of the year on defense before an injury forced her to miss the final four games. She led the team in caused turnovers with 20 and finished second on the squad with 39 ground balls. Demski scored a goal in the Tigers' win over Richmond last spring. She enters her senior season ranked fourth in school history with 77 career caused turnovers.

Hogan played a key role for the Tigers in 2012 as she played in all 20 games and made her first career start in the NCAA Tournament game against Penn State. She scored the first goal of her career against UMBC and finished with eight goals for the season. Hogan's biggest goal of the season came in the regular season finale against James Madison. The midfielder's goal with 26 seconds left in double overtime, lifted the Tigers to a 10-9 victory and the regular season title. Hogan had an assist in the win over Temple and recorded 15 draw controls during the season.

Rohrback became a key part of the Tigers' offensive threat during the 2012 season. The attacker, who missed the 2011 season due to injury, finished second on the team with 49 points. Rohrback scored 27 goals, including a team-best four game-winners. Her 22 assists are tied for ninth most in single-season history at Towson. Rohrback finished the season having scored a point in 19 of the Tigers' 20 games including a career-high eight points (3g, 5a) against George Mason.

Demski, Hogan, Rohrback and the rest of the Tigers kick off one of the toughest schedules in program history on February 15 when they travel to North Carolina to face the Tar Heels.
