Lycoming Announces 2013 Schedule

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. With nine games against teams that finished 2012 with a winning record and two against squads ranked in the top 10 in the preseason poll, Lycoming will once again face a challenging road as it seeks to reach the postseason for a record sixth straight year, as third-year Lycoming head coach Todd Hodgson announced the 2013 schedule on Friday, Jan. 18.

The Warriors begin and end their 2013 schedules with tough opponents, opening at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Feb. 20 against eighth-ranked Dickinson and closing on the road on April 27 against new conference foe, top-ranked Stevenson.

In between those two tough contests, the Warriors will face several perennial powers within the friendly confines of the Shangraw Athletic Complex, including SUNY Geneseo (Feb. 27), Ithaca (March 6) and Widener (April 13).

The Warriors will also face several tough regional opponents, including reigniting its rivalry with Susquehanna, playing in Selinsgrove, Pa., on Feb. 24. The Warriors also host Gwynedd-Mercy on March 2, face Scranton in Philadelphia on March 9 and host King's (Pa.) on March 20 before opening conference play.

The eight-game Commonwealth Conference schedule will open on March 28 at the Shangraw Athletic Complex when the Warriors host Alvernia. The Warriors will also host defending conference champions Widener, Hood (April 20) and Lebanon Valley (April 23) at the complex while hitting the road for conference tilts against Elizabethtown (March 30), Messiah (April 3), Albright (April 6) and Stevenson (April 27).

With the nine-team conference, the Commonwealth Conference tournament has been expanded to five teams in 2013, with the fourth and fifth-place teams playing a first round game on Tuesday, April 30 at the No. 4 seed. The semifinals are set for Thursday, May 5, with the top seed playing the winner of the first round game and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds also playing. The conference championship is set for Saturday, April 4.

The Warriors finished the 2012 season by making the postseason for the fifth straight year before falling to Widener in the Commonwealth Conference semifinals to finish 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the league.
