Lehigh Tops Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Preseason Poll

Several teams finished last season with lofty national rankings. Colgate was second in scoring offense (13.11 goals per game) and Lehigh second in scoring defense (6.82 gpg), while Lehigh (.542), Colgate (.485) and Army (.475) were first, third and fourth, respectively in man-up offense. Additionally, Navy was eighth in man-down defense (.750), Lehigh was fourth (12.65) in fewest turnovers per game, Bucknell led the nation in shot percentage (.371), and the Bison and Colgate (9.17) defenses were fourth and fifth, respectively, in caused turnovers per game.

The season opens Saturday, Feb. 9 with five teams in action. The first game gets underway with Navy hosting VMI at noon. Four games are set for 1:00 p.m. starts, with Army visiting Massachusetts, Bucknell going to Delaware, Colgate visiting Bryant and Lehigh hosting Saint Joseph's.

Holy Cross and Lafayette both open a week later on Saturday, Feb. 16. The Crusaders host St. John's while Lafayette visits Georgetown. Both games are slated for noon.

The Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Tournament is set for Friday/Sunday, April 26/28, at the site of the highest seed. Semifinal contests will take place at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, with the championship Sunday at 3:00 p.m. CBS Sports Network will televise the tournament in its entirety for the fifth consecutive season.
