Gannon Tabbed 13th in IWLCA Preseason Rankings

ERIE, Pa. Gannon is ranked 13th in the 2013 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Preseason Poll released Tuesday afternoon.

LIU Post (N.Y.) is the consensus No. 1 pick after receiving 13 of the 15 first-place votes. The defending NCAA Division II national champion went 17-3 last season. Le Moyne (N.Y.) (16-3), Adelphi (N.Y.) (16-3), West Chester (Pa.) (16-4) and Rollins (Fla.) (15-2) completed the top five. Adelphi and West Chester both secured a first-place vote.

Limestone (S.C.) (17-2), Stonehill (Mass.) (14-5), New Haven (Mass.) (13-5), Bentley (Mass.) (13-6) and Lock Haven (Pa.) (11-6) rounded out the top 10.

Gannon returns 14 letterwinners and nine starters from last year's 12-6 team. Ranked fifth in the final two NCAA Division II South regional rankings last season, the Lady Knights finished 9-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. The squad entered the postseason as the PSAC regular-season co-champion after trying Lock Haven and West Chester for first place in the conference standings.

Head coach Lindsey Lowman's club won 12 matches for the fourth consecutive season, reaching double digits in wins for the eighth straight campaign. The Lady Knights finished one victory shy of the school's single-season record for wins. The 1998 and 1999 teams hold the single-season record with identical 13-2 marks. The team's nine conference wins also represented the most during the program's four years in the PSAC.
