ECAC Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll for 2013

DENVER University of Denver was picked No. 2 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll that was released today. The Pioneers are behind NCAA champion Loyola and ahead of Fairfield and Ohio State, which tied for third.

Rounding out the poll is Air Force at No. 5, Hobart at No. 6, Bellarmine at No. 7 and Michigan at No. 8.

"With Loyola's National Championship last year and Denver's Championship weekend appearance in 2011, the ECAC has proven its reputation as a power conference in the past couple of years," said head coach Bill Tierney. "Every team in our league has more talent in 2013, so it should be an exciting and very competitive year. We look forward to competing with the other teams vying to be the ECAC Champion."

Freshman Gordie Koerber (Baltimore, Md.) was voted a Preseason Rookie of the Year, making it the second straight season that the Pioneers have had someone take home the award. Koerber was listed on Lacrosse Magazine's "Freshman 15: College Rookies to Watch."

The 2012 Preseason Rookie of the Year, Wes Berg (Coquitlam, B.C.) was tabbed All-ECAC at attack, while junior Jeremy Noble (Orangeville, Ontario) was picked All-ECAC at midfield. Sophomore Carson Cannon (Stillwater, Minn.) was named an All-ECAC selection at defense, while senior Chase Carraro (Louisville, Ky.) was named All-ECAC as a specialist.
