No. 10 Colgate Wins Overtime Thriller at Bryant in Opener

Bryant claimed the faceoff in overtime and got off a shot from close range, but Santry stood tall and the Raiders began their winning possession.

“I may have gotten a piece of it but he may have just dropped it,” Santry recalled of his overtime save. “We definitely buckled down on D, made a stop and got a good ground ball out of it.

“Glad to get this win. It was a good team win.”

Colgate as a team fired 59 shots to 37 for Bryant. Ground balls were 33-31 in favor of the Bulldogs, who also won face-offs 20-11. Bryant committed 21 turnovers to 14 for the Raiders, and Bryant was 1 of 5 in extra-man opportunities while Colgate was 0 of 1.

Sunday was the first of Colgate's five straight road games to open the season. Next stop is Saturday in Burlington, Vt.

“It's a good early-season road victory,” Murphy said. “Any time you're on the road and you get a victory, that's good for Colgate. We're maturing, but we've got to be better next week against Vermont.”
