Delaware answered with a 3-1 run of its own, but Franklin and Freedman tallied scores in the final minute of the half to make the score 9-6 at the break.
The Blue Hens opened the second with two quick goals to pull within one, but that was the point when the Blue & Gray began to get a rhythm.

Freedman added one with the assist by Etchison before junior midfielder Meghan Farrell (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Visitation) hit a second free position. Bozel's second of the run was followed by back-to-back free position scores from freshman midfielder Kristen Bandos (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame of Namur) to make it 15-8 at 6:21.
The Hoyas defense was on point during the run holding the Blue Hens scoreless for 21 minutes.
In the final four minutes, Delaware attempted a comeback, but it was too late.
A goal at 3:52 from senior attacker Dina Jackson (Potomac, Md./Bullis School) made the final 16-12 at the final whistle.
Freedman led the way for the Hoyas with a hat trick and an assist, while Bozel had three goals on her own. Etchison had a big day in her first game as a Hoya with two goals and as many assists.
Georgetown outshot Delaware, 33-24, and managed 17 draw controls to the Blue Hens' 13.
On defense, the Hoyas posted eight caused turnovers and in the net, senior goalkeeper Barb Black (Ruxton, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) had seven saves for the afternoon.
Georgetown will host the Towson University Tigers in its home opener next Saturday at 1:00 p.m., at Multi-Sport Field.
