Lees-McRae Falls to Lenoir-Rhyne at Watauga HS

BOONE, N.C. -- Sophomore Jeff White (Middle Township, N.J.) scored two goals and Ryan Harrison (Lake Mary, Fla.) tallied 13 saves to pace Lees-McRae, but Lenoir-Rhyne defeated the Bobcats, 10-2, at Watauga High School on Wednesday evening.

Lenoir-Rhyne (1-2) outshot Lees-McRae (0-4) by a 42-10 margin, including a 21-5 advantage in the first half, while converting 16 of 18 clears and scoping up 42 ground balls. The Bobcats converted 11 of 19 clears in the contest.

White paced the Bobcats with two goals on four shots, including three on goal, as he and Dillon Quinn (Greensboro, N.C.) each recorded a team-high three ground balls. Ryan Sparks (Hilton Head, S.C.) caused a trio of turnovers for the Bobcats, as Harrison stopped 13 of 23 shots directed toward his cage.

Ned Kaish led the way for Lenoir-Rhyne with four goals, as Connor Squires and Tyler Kotch each posted two goals and two assists. Stephen O'Hara tallied a game-high five ground balls, as he and Edward Guerin both caused four turnovers. Steven McGhee made five saves for the Bears.

Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first half, taking a five-goal advantage into the intermission following a pair of second-quarter strikes by Squires. Kaish would push the lead to 8-0 with his third of the night with just eight seconds left in the third before White responded for the Bobcats, tallying his first of the contest at the 8:28 mark in the fourth quarter.

White scored his second six minutes later, rolling around the back of the net and delivering a diving finish to cut the lead to 9-2 with 2:15 left. Kaish capped the scoring in the final minute of play, pocketing his fourth of the night off a pass from Kotch.

Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday when the Bobcats host Shorter University at 12:00 p.m. at Watauga High School in Boone, N.C. in non-conference action.
