Yellow Jackets Stung vs. Albion in First Varsity Game

PONTIAC, Mich. The Yellow Jacket men's lacrosse team made history on Saturday afternoon, as the program took the field against Albion for Defiance's first varsity lacrosse game. The Purple and Gold was overmatched by the Britons, as DC was defeated by a score of 31-0.

Jesse Bailey will go down in the history books as taking the first shot attempt for the Yellow Jackets, as the freshman fired wide with 7:54 left in the fourth quarter.

Albion dominated the game, as the Britons scored 17 goals in the first half, 12 coming in the second quarter. Albion tacked on 14 more goals in the second half to go on to win the contest 31-0.

Starting goalkeeper Chris Smith made 20 saves in the game and Bailey, Tyler Clark and James Lopez each registered a shot for the Purple and Gold.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, March 2, as Defiance hosts its first-ever home contest against Calvin at Justin F. Coressel Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
