ASHLAND, Va. - Lebanon Valley started off its 2013 season with a record-setting win, thrashing Randolph-Macon 20-4 on the road.

Ian Schmid scored six goals with three assists, and Malik Pedroso netted five, as the Dutchmen (1-0) tied the program record for goals in a game against a Yellow Jackets team (1-2) that had beaten them 13-4 at home to open 2012.

LVC ran out to a 4-1 lead after a quarter, then blew the game open with a six-goal second quarter to take a 10-2 lead at halftime. That was part of an incredible 15-goal run by the Dutchmen, who held RMC scoreless from the 11:41 mark of the second quarter until there was 3:45 remaining in the fourth.

Andrew Dennison and Alex Beard both scored twice with three assists, and five other Dutchmen got on the board with Matt Roupe, Scott Sutton, Dan Weinel, Ryan Lanigan, and Jacques Mercer each scoring a goal.

Mike Moll made six saves in 50:46 of work to earn the win; Kevin Krasley had a stop in relief. Jordan Devito took the loss for RMC, making nine saves.

Sutton was 13 of 24 on faceoffs for LVC, and Lanigan had a huge game defensively, causing five turnovers with eight ground balls. LVC outshot their hosts 50-25 and committed just 14 turnovers, tying a program single-game record. Dutchmen special teams were outstanding, scoring six times on nine man-up chances.
