IWLCA Poll for Women's Division III - February 25th

The Trinity Bantams, the reigning national champions, remain on top of the poll as the IWLCA's first weekly rankings were released by the organization. Trinity leads a pack of seven NESCAC schools in the top-20, with four in the top eight. The Capital Athletic Conference boasts three ranked schools, including two in the top-10, while the Centennial, Commonwealth, and Empire 8 conferences each have two institutions in the first weekly poll.

The NESCAC's seven schools are led by Trinity at No. 1, with Middlebury just outside the top-four at No. 5. Colby (No. 7) just edges out Amherst (No. 8), while Bowdoin starts the season at No. 12. Tufts moves up to No. 15, with Hamilton also moving up two spots to No. 17.

Salisbury's No. 2 ranking leads the Capital Athletic Conference, and York starts the season inside the top-10 at No. 9. Mary Washington also sits in the top-20, sliding down one spot from preseason to land at No. 14.

The Centennial, Middle Atlantic, and Empire 8 each have two schools ranked. Gettysburg from the Centennial starts at No. 4, with Franklin & Marshall moving up to No. 13. Messiah from the Commonwealth starts the second half of the poll at No. 11, while Elizabethtown rounds out the poll at No. 20. From the Empire 8, St. John Fisher leads the way at No. 16 while Ithaca moves up two spots to No. 18.

The four remaining ranked schools represent four different conferences, starting with Cortland from the SUNYAC. The Red Dragons start the season at No. 3 while the TCNJ Lions from the NJAC comes in at No. 6. Catholic from the Landmark closes out the top half of the poll at No. 10 and the USA South's Christopher Newport enters the rankings at No. 19.

On Tuesday No. 9 York travels to in-state rival and 13th-ranked Franklin & Marshall. Saturday features a game between two top-10 teams as No. 10 Catholic hosts No. 2 Salisbury; No. 4 Gettysburg also hosts No. 11 Messiah on Saturday.

This is the first weekly poll by the IWLCA for the 2013 season; the next poll will be released on March 5.
