NLL Player Awards for Week No. 8

The National Lacrosse League has announced Player of the Week awards for Week #8 of the 2013 NLL regular season which featured five games this past weekend.

Washington Stealth forward Rhys Duch, tied for the league lead with 25 goals this season, won the Offensive Player of the Week award after a 10-point performance in their 16-14 home win over the Calgary Roughnecks that put the Stealth atop the West Division standings.

Philadelphia Wings goaltender Brandon Miller won his second Defensive Player of the Week award this season after helping his team get back above .500 with back-to-back wins in Week #8.

Two Minnesota Swarm players won awards in their respective categories after a weekend home-and-home split. Jordan MacIntosh won Transition Player of the Week while forward Kiel Matisz won the Rookie of the Week award for the second-straight week and third time this season.

Offensive Player of the Week
Rhys Duch, Washington Stealth (3G, 7A, 4 LB): Duch recorded 10 points (3+7) and four loose balls in Washington's 16-14 win vs. Calgary on Saturday.

Transition Player of the Week
Jordan MacIntosh, Minnesota Swarm (2 GP, 3G, 4A, 26 LB): MacIntosh recorded six points (3+3) and eight loose balls in Minnesota's 13-8 win at Edmonton on Friday and one assist, 18 loose balls and went 16 for 26 (62%) on faceoffs in Minnesota's 14-9 loss vs. Edmonton on Sunday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Brandon Miller, Philadelphia Wings (2 GP, 2W, 10.00 GAA, .808 SV%): Miller recorded 39 saves on 47 shots in Philadelphia's 10-8 win at Rochester on Saturday and 45 saves on 57 shots in Philadelphia's 14-12 win vs. Colorado on Sunday.

Rookie of the Week

Kiel Matisz, Minnesota Swarm (2 GP, 4G, 4A, 13 LB): Matisz recorded three goals and seven loose balls in Minnesota's 13-8 win at Edmonton on Friday and five points (1+4) and six loose balls in Minnesota's 14-9 loss vs. Edmonton on Sunday.
