Rangers Cruise to Season-Opening Win at Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. (February 28, 2013) Drew dominated every facet of the game in a 17-2 victory over Ramapo (0-2) this afternoon. Sophomore Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) set a new school-record with 10 caused turnovers in the process.

Cento put together one of the top all-around performance by a women's lacrosse player in the history of the program. The second-year midfielder scored four goals and tallied four assists to go along with eight ground balls. She was also the game's leader in draw controls with five.

Classmate Nikki Kleiman (Cranford, N.J/Cranford) tied a career-high by converting six of her seven shots on the day. Junior Brooke Gagliano (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp.) and sophomore Larkin Dolan (Morristown, N.J./The Hill School) each recorded their first career hat tricks. Dolan was one the Rangers top distributors in the contest, dishing off three assists.

The Rangers never trailed, scoring the game's first four goals. The Roadrunners made the score 4-2 on goals from Briana Vitulano and Tayler Jade Nicholas but it proved to be the only offense for the home team. The Rangers rattled off the next 13 goals with nine of them coming in the final 20 minutes of the first half.

The Drew defense was equally as stellar, not allowing a single shot in the second half of play and only yielded seven for the entire game. Junior netminder CC Carlini (Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) made five saves for her first victory of the year.

First-year Head Coach, Julia Steier, earned her first collegiate victory as a head coach.

The Rangers will open up their home schedule on Saturday when they take on Mount St. Mary's College at 4:00 p.m. in Ranger Stadium.
