Notre Dame Edges Shepherd on Late Goal
LYNDHURST, Ohio – Jill Dixon scored on an assist from Shannan Edwards with 5:38 remaining in the game to lift Notre Dame to a 13-12 win over Shepherd in action at Notre Dame on Friday.
Sophomore attacker Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) recorded three goals to lead the Rams.
Freshman midfielder Erin Phelan (Thurmont, MD/Catoctin), junior attacker Hanna Wharton (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana), and freshman attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, MD/Severn School) each added a pair of goals.
Senior midfielder Nicole Ruane (Sykesville, MD/Century), junior midfielder Christina Ferrara (California, MD/Leonardtown), and junior midfielder Jenny Cavey (Sykesville, MD/Westminster) tallied single goals for the Rams.
Ferrara had a team-high two assists. Phelan, Wharton, sophomore attacker/midfielder Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point), sophomore defender/midfielder Alyx Albano (Wayne, NJ/ Wayne Hills) each contributed an assist.
Madalyn Dewling and Katherine Doraty each had three goals to lead Notre Dame.
The game was tied at 8-all at the break.
Sophomore netminder Lily Schmulowitz (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) recorded five saves for the Rams, while Kelsey Harvey and Amanda Matusik combined for 10 saves for Notre Dame. The Falcons held a 30-23 shots advantage.
Shepherd falls to 3-1, while Notre Dame of Ohio improves to 1-0. The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Tiffin for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
