#2 Le Moyne Opens Northeast-10 Play with Win at Assumption
Worcester, Mass. (March 2) -- On Saturday afternoon, Assumption College dropped a 9-4 final to No. 2 ranked Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
Le Moyne was in control over the first two quarters as the Dolphins built to an 8-0 halftime lead behind a 34-4 shot advantage and goals from seven different scorers. In third quarter, Tyler Prevost pushed the advantage up to 9-0 in favor of the Dolphins before the momentum swung back to the Hounds for the final two quarters of play.
With 3:02 left in the third quarter, sophomore Ty Martina (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) got the Hounds on the board with his third goal of the season. In the opening minutes of the third, senior attack Connor MacNeil (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) scored his first of the season off an assist from sophomore Peter Gersbeck (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River). Sophomore attack Tim Casey (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) scored twice in a span of 53 seconds to cut the lead down to 9-4 with 7:26 left, but that was as close as the Hounds would get.
Casey led the Assumption offense with a pair of goals, while sophomore goalie Will Contento (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) made 17 saves in the loss.
Andrew Chadderdon led the Dolphins with a six-point afternoon two goals and four assists, while senior goalie Jeff White picked up the win to improve to 2-0 after a two-save effort.
With the loss, the Hounds drop to 0-2 overall and 1-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Dolphins improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Northeast-10 play.
Assumption is back in action on Saturday, March 9th as the Hounds travel to Long Island to take on Dowling College, the defending NCAA National Champions, for a 1:00 p.m. start.

Worcester, Mass. – Junior midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) recorded a career-high six points to lead second-ranked Le Moyne to a 9-4 win over Assumption on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
The Dolphins opened the scoring in the game with an extra-man goal just 3:12 into the contest as sophomore midfielder Alec Westerhoff (Lagrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township/Bridgton Academy) finished off a feed from senior attackman Tyler Prevost (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart/Onondaga C.C.). Le Moyne doubled its lead just over two minutes later as reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Week Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) found the back of the net off a pass from Chadderdon.
With 6:30 remaining in the opening quarter, Chadderdon tallied his first goal of the day after taking a pass from freshman attackman Mike Jenkins (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa). Chadderdon then earned his third point of the afternoon by finding sophomore midfielder Joe Corapi (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) for a goal with 2:50 to play.
Le Moyne added four goals in the second quarter to take an 8-0 lead. Just 42 seconds into the quarter, Prevost netted his second goal of the season off a pass from Chadderdon. After picking up a ground ball off an Assumption turnover, senior defensive midfielder Connor Regin (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C.) raced up field before finding senior attackman Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) for his second goal of the campaign with 12:58 left.
Following an Assumption slashing penalty, Chadderdon hit the back of the net off a pass from Frechette with 11:39 remaining in the half. Out of a timeout, junior Matt Klepper (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Merrimack) recorded his first goal of the year with 5:11 to play as Frechette picked up his third assist of the season.
