Krechel Scores 300th Point as LVC Drops Goucher

TOWSON, Md. - Hana Krechel scored her 300th career point to lead Lebanon Valley to a solid 14-6 win at Goucher on Saturday.

The Dutchmen (2-0) had a big first half, scoring four straight goals after the Gophers (1-2) went up 2-0 to take control of the game. LVC used a seven-goal run wrapped around halftime to build an insurmountable lead, holding Goucher scoreless for more than a half hour.

Bailey Benz scored five goals with three assists and caused an LVC single-game record 8 turnovers, while Krechel, who entered the game with 294 career points, scored four goals and three assists to become the first player in program history to reach 300. Mel Modrick also had a hat trick. Erin Reifsnyder and Hannah Khin led Goucher with three goals each.

Goucher scored the game's first two goals, but LVC quickly took the lead as Krechel, Allison McGinnis, Modrick, and Benz tallied within a four-minute span to lead 4-2. Two more goals by Benz and one each by Krechel and Modrick had LVC up 8-4 at the half.

The Valley dominated the second half defensively, holding Goucher scoreless for 20:14 while building a 12-4 lead that would hold up. Erica Ameigh had six shots in goals for the Dutchmen, while Ashley Shaner saved seven for the Gophers.

LVC led 29-18 on shots. Draw controls were an even 11-11, but LVC led 8-1 in the second half to control possession.

The Dutchmen visit Immaculata on Wednesday.
