No. 2 Le Moyne Throttles AIC in Northeast-10 Action

Syracuse, N.Y. Senior attackman Tyler Prevost (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart/Onondaga C.C.) recorded six points to lead second-ranked Le Moyne to a 22-2 win over American International on Sunday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

Following an American International turnover, the Dolphins opened the game's scoring as graduate student midfielder Aaron Cahill (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland/Onondaga C.C.) scooped up the ground ball and went coast-to-coast for his first goal of the season at the 12:04 mark.

After 11 minutes of scoreless action, another Cahill ground ball off an AIC turnover led to Le Moyne's second goal. Cahill carried the ball into the box before feeding freshman attackman Mike Jenkins (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa), who found junior attackman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) for his eighth goal of the season.

The Dolphins doubled their lead with two goals in the opening 70 seconds of the second quarter. Button finished off another feed from Jenkins at the 14:15 mark, while Jenkins tallied his first career goal 25 seconds later off a pass from junior midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn).

The Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard with 9:47 remaining in the first half as Jeff Sienkiewicz cut to the middle of the field from the left and fired a shot into the net.

Le Moyne, which posted its third consecutive 20-goal victory over the Yellow Jackets (22-2, 23-3, 22-2), responded with eight goals over the final 6:55 of the quarter. Off a restart, Prevost sent a pass to classmate Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), who found the back of the net for the third time this season.

Just 31 seconds later, junior midfielder Tim Beach (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) tallied an unassisted goal. Following a save by American International goalkeeper Alexis Buque, Prevost picked up the loose ball and dumped a shot into the net for his first of four goals in the quarter. Senior midfielder Doug Bailey (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) then capped Le Moyne's spurt of four goals in 88 seconds by scoring his second goal of the season with 5:27 to play in the quarter.

Following an American International slashing penalty, Prevost finished off a feed from sophomore midfielder Alec Westerhoff (Lagrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township/Bridgton Academy) with 4:06 remaining. Prevost completed his hat trick 43 seconds later with an unassisted goal. Just under two minutes later, Frechette scored from the left side of the goal after taking a feed from Jenkins. Prevost completed the scoring in the half by recording another extra-man goal with 50 seconds remaining off a pass from Frechette.

The Dolphins extended their lead to 20-1 with eight goals over the first 7:08 of the third quarter. Off the initial face-off of the quarter, junior face-off specialist Kam Bumpus (Marshfield, Mass./Needham/Bridgton Academy), who won 12 of his 13 draws on the afternoon, raced in to score his third goal of the season just 10 seconds into the stanza.

Only 23 seconds later, Button tallied his team-best 10th goal of the year off a pass from Prevost. Westerhoff netted Le Moyne's 15th goal of the day with 13:21 remaining after taking a feed from Frechette. Following another ground ball by Cahill after an AIC turnover, junior midfielder Matt Klepper (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Merrimack) tallied his second goal of the year.

Chadderdon got into the scoring column with 10:56 left with an unassisted extra-man goal. Klepper registered his second goal of the quarter with 9:27 to play, while graduate student defensive midfielder Jeff Vetter (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) scored 29 seconds later. Freshman midfielder Nick Kline (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) completed the outburst with his first career goal with 7:52 remaining off a pass from Beach.
