Moschetti Nets Five, and Richmond Cruises by ODU

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond throttled Old Dominion, 23-7, Wednesday night at Robins Stadium.

Kara Moschetti led Richmond with a career-best five goals, with Sam Stevenson and Jennifer Zoltoski following with four goals apiece. Zoltoski rounded out her career day with two ground balls, two draw controls and a team-high two caused turnovers.

Richmond scored a season-best 23 goals, one score shy of tying a program-high set against Longwood in 2008. Richmond's 31 team points was two points shy of tying a program record.

Caitlin Fifield, Hayley Ross and Emily Doyle each notched two goals apiece, while Catherine McTiernan, Taylor Blazer, Anna Jeszeck and Brooke Wilson each chipped in with a goal. It was the first career goal for Jeszeck and Wilson, while it was the first of the season for Blazer.

Richmond put the game out of reach early, by tallying seven-straight goals to take a commanding 9-2 lead with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Spiders would not relinquish their lead.

Moschetti led Richmond with nine points (5g, 4a), while Fifield and Doyle both had two assists. Blazer and Tara Coyle grabbed three ground balls each, while Blazer secured a game-high eight draw controls. Richmond held an opponent to a season-low seven goals.

Richmond outshot the Monarchs 32-24 and Emily Boyce had 13 saves in goal.

The Spiders resume action Wednesday, Mar. 13 at 6:00 p.m. when they host the Dukes of James Madison at Robins Stadium.
