Second-Ranked Le Moyne Routs Roberts Wesleyan

Syracuse, N.Y. Senior attackman Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) tallied six points to lead second-ranked Le Moyne to a 19-5 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

After five and one-half minutes of scoreless action to start the game, junior attackman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with a behind-the-back shot after taking a pass from the top of the box from sophomore midfielder Chris Breiner (Troy, N.Y./Trinity-Pawling). The Redhawks answered back just 53 seconds later as Dom Cianfarano tallied an unassisted goal.

The Dolphins regained the lead 38 seconds later as junior midfielder Tim Beach (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) rifled in a shot from 15 yards out after taking a feed from senior attackman Tyler Prevost (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart/Onondaga C.C.). Prevost, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, picked up his second assist of the day with 5:23 remaining in the first quarter, when sophomore midfielder Joe Corapi (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) found the back of the net for the sixth time this season.

Less than one minute later, Frechette netted his first goal of the day after causing a turnover and picking up the loose ball. After all-America defenseman Alex Cameron-Carter (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) caused a turnover, sophomore midfielder Alec Westerhoff (Lagrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township/Bridgton Academy) recorded an extra-man goal with 2:34 left in the quarter.

Following back-and-forth action over the opening 6:17 of the second quarter, Brett Capps scored off a pass from Seth Miller out of a Roberts Wesleyan timeout.

The Dolphins answered back with a pair of goals 41 seconds apart. Prevost fed Corapi for Le Moyne's sixth goal at the 8:01 mark, while he scored the team's seventh goal with 7:20 left after taking a pass from freshman attackman Mike Jenkins (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa).

The Redhawks closed their deficit to 7-3 with 4:27 remaining in the half after Craig Petit picked up a ground ball and fed Tyler Kleehammer for his fourth goal of the year.

Le Moyne closed out the quarter with three goals over the final 2:46. Beach netted his second goal of the day with 2:46 left off a pass from Frechette, while Frechette found the back of the net 29 seconds later off a feed from senior midfielder Doug Bailey (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy). Off a restart of a missed shot, Jenkins tallied his second goal of the season as Frechette earned his seventh assist of the campaign.

After starting the second half in an extra-man situation, Button recorded another behind-the-back shot from the edge of the crease after taking a pass from junior midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn).

Following 10 and one-half minutes of scoreless play, the Dolphins scored three goals in a span of 1:42. Frechette recorded Le Moyne's 12t goal of the day with 3:44 remaining off a pass from Beach, while he gave his team a 10-goal lead 46 seconds later off a pass from Chadderdon. After backing up a shot, Prevost fed junior midfielder Matt Klepper (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Merrimack) for his fifth goal of the season with 2:02 left in the quarter.

Capps snapped Le Moyne's seven-goal run with an extra-man tally with 13 seconds left in the quarter off a pass from Cody Lewis. Off the ensuing face-off, Jenkins scored with one second left after receiving a pass from Prevost.

The Dolphins extended their lead to 19-4 with four goals in a span of 5:24 in the fourth quarter. Senior attackman Justin DePalma (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Sacred Heart) tallied the first two at the 8:20 mark and the 7:11 mark off passes from Jenkins. Freshman attackman Pat Nowak (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) had a hand in the final two goals. He scored Le Moyne's 18th goal with 3:15 left off a pass from Klepper, while assisting on a man-up goal by sophomore midfielder Nick Keeler (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) 19 seconds later.

Capps completed the game's scoring by finishing off a feed from Ian Nash with 46 seconds left.

Senior goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) earned the win between the pipes, while Matt Hamilton made 14 saves in the loss.

Le Moyne (4-0), which completed the home portion of its non-conference schedule, returns to Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday at Pace University at 1:00 p.m.
