Saint Leo Defeats Catawba to Give Jorgensen 100th Win

Catawba led 4-3 at the break, but the Lions tied it just over a minute in to the second half on a goal by Chad Marino. Matt Obermeyer scored three times in the quarter and Marino added another in the 5-0 frame.

Down 9-4 in the fourth, Catawba reeled off three straight goals, two from John Scheich (Waxhaw, NC/Weddington HS) to pull within 9-7 with 7:09 to play. Saint Leo responded with three goals of its own to go on top 12-7 with four minutes left.

Matt Symes (Coquitlam, BC, CANADA/Centennial HS) joined Scheich with two goals for Catawba. The Indians fired 47 shots at the Lions, but only 23 were on goal. Pete Wesselman (Charlotte, NC/Providence HS/Stevenson) made eight saves for the Indians.

Obermeyer and Marino each tallied three times for the Lions. Robert Hutchinson had two goals, while Kevin Hutchinson had a goal and four assists. Dave Moore stopped 15 shots in goal.

Catawba will stay in Florida and next take on Tampa, Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
