Cyclones Outraced by Greyhounds

UNION, N.J. (March 9, 2013) After consecutive wins to kick off their season, Centenary was dealt their first loss of the season this afternoon at the hands of Kean. The Cyclones fought hard, but were unable to stop an impressive offensive output by the Greyhounds and ultimately fell by the final score of 16-4.

Kean got on the board first when Lyndsey Cannon scored a man-up goal on a free possession shot at the 21:51 mark. Centenary swiftly answered a minute later when Allie Swartz (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) scored her first of two goals to tie the game at one.

However, that goal would be the last one before an onslaught of goals from Kean. Aside from a pair of goals by Alysia Pinkerton (Frenchtown, NJ, Delaware Valley Regional), the Greyhounds would dominate the scoring in the first half and took an 8-3 lead into the half.

The second half of play would see much of the same offensive prowess from Kean, as they tacked on an additional eight goals. Centenary was able to find the back of the cage one more time when Swartz added her second goal of the game, but it was too little too late.

With the loss the Cyclones fall to 2-1 on the young season. However, they will be back in action on Sunday, March 17th when they host Worcester at Cyclone Field.
