Red Devils Power Past Kenyon

(Carlisle, Pa.) Dickinson turned in an outstanding performance on Saturday, running past visiting Kenyon College, 20-8.

Sophomore Carly O'Brien (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton Day School) had another big game, scoring four goals, all in the first half, to put the Red Devils in front, 12-3 at halftime.

Senior Clare Manoli (Hudson, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) put the Devils on the board, sandwiching a pair of goals around a tally from O'Brien to give Dickinson a 3-0 lead with 21:21 remaining in the first half.

Sophomore Megan Taylor (Kensington, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) finished an assist from senior Kara Glazer (Towson, Md./Towson) to stretch the advantage to, 6-1, at the 16:24 mark.

The Red Devils struck twice in the final two minutes of the half, and Glazer fed first-year Katie Iverson (Marblehead, Mass./Pingree School) just seven seconds into the second to give the Devils a 10-goal lead at 13-3.

The lead grew to 18-5 before Kenyon strung together three straight goals to cut the deficit to 18-8. Amy Morgan led the way, scoring back-to-back goals at the 14:10 and 10:24 marks.

O'Brien finished with a game-high four goals while Iverson tallied three goals and an assist. 14 different players tallied a point for the Devils as they win their second straight game.

Sophomore Grace Morelli (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) earned her second win in goal, stopping four shots and controlling three ground balls. Junior Brett Whelan (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) caused three turnovers, won three draws and picked-up a pair of ground balls. Sophomore Ali Dawson (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) added five draws as well.

Jane Symmes led Kenyon (1-1) with a game-high eight draw controls, scoring a pair of goals. Meredith Bentsen made nine saves in the cage for the Ladies.

The Red Devils improve to 3-2 on the season. They travel to New York next week to face St. Joseph's on Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
