Berry Drops Close Decision to Kenyon

ROME, Ga. Trailing by a single goal after one quarter, Berry's men's lacrosse team ended up losing to Kenyon, 10-6, on Monday afternoon at Ford Field. Berry's loss dropped its record to 3-3 overall. Kenyon moved to 2-4.

Cory Hall and Michael Harper each scored two goals apiece for Berry. Hall and Kyle Lombardi also picked up two assists each. Trey Trudell paced Kenyon with three goals, and Will Lowe had three assists.

Jordan Boreman took the loss in goal for Berry and made 11 saves. Patrick Shevelson earned the win for Kenyon and stopped nine shots.

After allowing a Trudell goal less than a minute into the game, Berry scored three times to go to the sidelines with the score 4-3 after a quarter. The next quarter saw Kenyon notch three goals and shut out Berry's offense, giving it a 7-3 edge at halftime. Through the first 30 minutes, Kenyon held 12-1 advantage on faceoffs won.

Berry scored three more goals in the final two quarters, but never came closer than within three goals of Kenyon. At the final buzzer, Kenyon had a by 30-14 margin in ground balls, and led 17-2 in faceoffs.

"They have a very good faceoff man (Jared Jacobs), so we expected that," said BC Head Coach Chris Delfausse. "But we need to do a much better job on ground balls."

The Vikings will return to action on the road this Saturday against Huntingdon. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Montgomery, Ala.
