Hornets Cage the Bobcats for Third Straight Time

FROSTBURG, Md. - Shenandoah earned its second win in three games this season with a 15-5 non-league victory at Frostburg State Tuesday afternoon.

Shenandoah (2-1) scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back against Frostburg (2-2).

The win is the Hornets third straight over the Bobcats.

Coach Lindsey Lutz had three different women: Samantha Donaghy, Mary Kogler and Amy Rollins, score those inital three goals.

FSU got on the board at 16:52, starting a run in which the two teams would trade the next six goals.

Sophomore Liz Bereit had the final answer in that run with an unassisted goal 4:29 before the halftime gun.

This goal, one of three for Bereit on the afternoon, would start a 5-1 Shenandoah run that sandwiched halftime.

Lutz' club, thanks to consecutive Bereit tallies, owned a 10-4 lead with 13:05 remaining.

Following Frostburg's final goal of the game, at 12:03, Shenandoah closed out the game with five goals in the final 10:25.

SU had four women: Rollins, Bereit, Corrinne Kosmowski and Samantha Sisson, register hat tricks.

Sisson led this group with four goals and two assists for six points.

Shenandoah outshot the Bobcats 29-18, had a 12-11 advantage in groundballs and won 15 of 22 draws.

The Hornets also forced 15 FSU turnovers and were 15 of 18 in clearing.

SU opens up ODAC play on Saturday at 2:00 against Lynchburg.
