Golden Flyers Edged by Power Gulls

ROCHESTER, N.Y. The Golden Flyers fell 12-11 to Endicott on Friday evening at Nazareth College. The loss leaves Nazareth with a 1-3 record overall, and the win brings Endicott to a 2-1 record overall.

Nazareth's Amy McIntosh and Briana Mancini totaled three goals apiece and Alyssa Johnston scored two and had two assists for the Golden Flyers.

In the first half the Golden Flyers opened play with a goal from Mancini in the first four minutes of play. The goal came off a free position shot. Just minutes later, Endicott fired back with an unassisted goal from Isabelle Sipperly to tie the score at 1-1.

For the remainder of the half the Golden Flyers and the 'Gulls battled back and forth with goals coming from Megan Cregan, Leah Cronister, Mancini, Johnston, and McIntosh for Nazareth. At the end of the hard fought half the score was tied at 6-6.

Endicott started the second half with a goal less than a minute into play to put them on top, 7-6. The Golden Flyers responded with a quick goal from Johnston after she drove down the field off the draw. Endicott scored the next three goals to open a 10-7 advantage and Nazareth never caught up.

Goals by Mancini and freshman Carly Gates -- the latter coming with just :01 left -- made the final score 12-11.

The Golden Flyers play at home again Saturday March 16th in another non-conference game against the Fredonia Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. ________________________________________
