Baldwin Wallace Overpowered at Alma

ALMA, Mich. Three different Yellow Jackets scored goals, but Baldwin Wallace University lost to Alma (Mich.) College, 19-3, today (Saturday, March 16, 2013) at Bahlke Field in Alma, Mich.

The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 1-2. The Scots improve to 7-1.

Alma used a 16-6 advantage in ground balls and outshot BW, 22-1, in the first half as 10 different Scots scored in the game's first 30 minutes and Alma took a 14-0 lead into halftime.

Junior midfielder Colleen Bodkin (East Aurora, N.Y./ East Aurora), junior midfielder Ellen Fedick (Rochester, N.Y./ Our Lady of Mercy), and freshman attack Jackie Buchheister (Biglerville, Pa./ Biglerville) each scored goals inside of six minutes as BW opened the second half on a 3-0 run.

Freshman midfielder Tia Esbenshade (Wooster/ Senior) recorded an assist on Buchheister's goal.

Alma scored the game's final five goals.

Christie Havrilla scored a game-high five goals. Addison Duffy also recorded a hat trick with three scores of her own, and Ashton Street tallied two goals and three assists for a game-high-tying five points.

The Scots held a 30-16 advantage in ground balls and outshot the Yellow Jackets, 37-8.

Junior Bridget Walsh (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) logged all 60 minutes in goal and made 11 saves for the Yellow Jackets. Stephanie Herman had five saves in 60 minutes of action.

Next weekend, the Yellow Jackets will host the first two games in program history at Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium. BW hosts Walsh College on Friday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m. and Olivet (Mich.) College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.
