Fifth-Ranked RIT Glides by Endicott in Snow-Filled Match

ROCHESTER, NY -- On a snowy Turf Field, the fifth-ranked RIT (4-1) men's lacrosse team defeated Endicott (3-3) 17-5 in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

Allister Warren (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern Collegiate Institute) led RIT with four goals, Eddie Kiesa (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) and Kyle Aquin (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Jean De Brebeuf) each had three goals. Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin) had two goals and five assists, while Kiesa, Warren, Pat McMullan (Easton, PA/Wyoming Seminary) each had a pair of assists.

The five assists for Krzyston is a career high, while the seven points is a career high for Krzyston who is tied with Warren for the team lead in scoring with 19 points.

Pat Johnston (Norwell, MA/Norwell) and the RIT defense were dominant on Sunday, allowing six goals. Johnston picked up his fourth win of the season making 14 saves. Elliott Cowburn (Oakville, ON/Holy Trinity) had a caused turnover and six ground balls, while Evan Burley (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) had a ground ball and a caused turnover. RIT caused nine of Endicott's 21 turnovers.

Connor McCormack, Chris Murphy, Joshua Tordik, Scott McCormack, Jonathan Morgan and Kyle Weber scored the Endicott goals. Sam Ozyzc won 17 of 25 face-offs and had 12 ground balls for the Gulls. Cameron Bell took the loss allowing 17 goals and making 16 saves.

RIT held a 45-37 shot advantage over Endicott, while The Gulls held a slight 35-32 ground ball advantage. RIT was 23 of 24 on clearing attemtps, while Endicott went 12 of 20. The Tigers were 5 of 9 on extra man opportunities, while the gulls were 1-fo-3.

RIT led 4-0 after the first quarter, 8-3 at the half, and outsocred the Gulls 9-3 in the second half.

The Tigers scored the first five goals of the game, before Connor McCormack broke the Tigers run with an unassisted goal at 12:02 in the second quarter.

After a three-goal run by the Gulls in the second qaurter cut the RIT lead to 5-3, the Tigers ran off eight straight goals, capped off by a pair of goals by Warren late in the third quarter to give RIT a 13-3 lead with 1:45 to play in the third quarter.

RIT returns to action on Wednesday, March 20 when the Tigers host St. John FIsher College at 4:00 pm on RIT's Turf Field.
