Sankey Nets Four as No. 12 Carolina Rebounds vs. Dartmouth

The two teams traded goals in the second quarter. Sankey and Holman had unassisted tallies in the period and Carolina went to the break up 5-3.

Carolina broke the game open by scoring the first three goals of the third quarter. Overall, UNC outscored the Big Green 8-2 after halftime. Holman, Spencer Parks and Jimmy Bitter ran off successive goals to put the Heels up 8-3 before Rotanz beat Burke with a high velocity shot from the outside with four seconds left in the period.

The Heels kicked it into an even higher gear in the fourth quarter. Senior defensive midfielder William Scroggs scored his first career goal 45 seconds into the final period. The Tar Heels converted another transition opportunity with long-stick midfielder Ryan Kilpatrick earning the assist on the Scroggs goal. Just 55 seconds later, UNC scored yet another fast break goal with Sankey notching his fourth of the day off an assist by Greg McBride.

Holman garnered his fourth goal at 8:06 before freshman Patrick Kelly circled from the right side and scored from eight yards out front with 7:11 left to play for his first career tally. Chad Tutton finished off the scoring for UNC with 6:11 to play before Dartmouth's Nikki Dysenchuk notched the final goal of the game on an EMO with 3:33 to play.

The Big Green returns to play Saturday when it hosts Harvard in Hanover, N.H.
