Karr Nets Five, and Shepherd Storms Past Urbana

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. Sophomore attacker Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) had five goals and two assists to lead Shepherd to a 24-6 win over Urbana in action at Ram Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Nicole Ruane (Sykesville, MD/Century), senior midfielder Krista Tippett (Leonardtown, MD/Leonardtown), sophomore attacker/midfielder Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point), and freshman midfielder Erin Phelan (Thurmont, MD/Catoctin) each recorded three goals for the Rams. Eagan added a pair of assists, while Ruane, Phelan, and Tippett each had one.

Junior attacker Hanna Wharton (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) and freshman attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, MD/Severn School) tallied a pair of goals each. Wharton also had two assists.

Shepherd also got single goals from junior midfielder Christina Ferrara (California, MD/Leonardtown), freshman midfielder Maggie Garvey (Chester, MD/Kent Island), and freshman midfielder Theresa Lang (Severn, MD/Archbishop Spalding. Junior midfielder Jenny Cavey (Sykesville, MD/Westminster) and Ferrara each added assists.

Nora Boerger and Chenelle Bondurant each had two goals for the Blue Knights.

Sophomore netminder Lily Schmulowitz (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) recorded five saves for the Rams, while Paige Waqa recorded 10 saves for the Urbana.

The Rams held a 39-15 shots advantage in shots and a 28-17 edge in ground balls.

Shepherd improves to 6-3, while Urbana falls to 0-5. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Kutztown for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
