No. 17 Camels Fall to No. 19 Cardinals at JHU

BALTIMORE, Md.--Plattsburgh State improved its record to 7-0 with its 7-5 victory against Connecticut College in a game played at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Wednesday.

The 19th ranked Cardinals received three goals from junior attackman Tim Lawrence (Kings Park, N.Y.). Joey Kramer (Clifton Park, N.Y.) had a goal and two assists for the winning side.

Senior specialist Nick Travers (Smithtown, N.Y.) won 9 of 16 face-offs, finishing with a game-high 10 ground balls for the Cardinals. Senior Gordie Gehring (Jamestown, N.Y.) made six saves in the cage.

Andrew Freedman (Sudbury, Mass.) had three goals in the setback for the 17th ranked Camels. Chad Sawyer (Northfield, Ill.) had a goal and two assists for Connecticut College (2-2).

Mike Brennan (Chester Springs, Pa.) corralled six ground balls in the loss. Bobby Bleistein (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) collected 12 of his 15 saves in the opening half of action.

Sawyer scored his second marker of the day with 11:59 remaining in the third to force the fourth and final tie of the game at four. Plattsburgh took the lead for good when Tom Duggan (Levittown, N.Y.) and Brett McClelland (Oswego, N.Y.) scored 50 seconds apart to make it a 6-4 game with 5:25 remaining in the third.

The Cardinals were able to hold on for the 7-5 win.
