Late Goal Gives Coastal Carolina Win over UDM

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (3-6) took a 1-0 lead 47 seconds into the game and added another goal 46 seconds later to jump out to a 2-0 early advantage with 1:33 to play.

Campbell came back for Detroit (1-8) at the 3:16 mark of the game netting her ninth goal of the season and make the score 2-1 in favor of Coastal. Another goal from Coastal pushed the lead back to two goals with Detroit trailing 3-1.

Back-to-back goals from Keuler made it a one-goal game and then she scored 41 seconds later to tie the game, 3-3, with 22:35 to play in the opening half.

The teams traded goals with Coastal going first and then Campbell scored for her second straight multi-goal effort to tie the game 4-4 with 14:11 to play in the first. It was the fourth multi-point game of the season for Campbell

The Chanticleers scored six straight goals to take a 10-4 lead with 5:25 to play in the opening frame.

Before the end of the first half, Detroit would add two quick goals to make it a 10-6 score at the break. With 18 seconds to play, Zaynib Hamze (Dublin, Calif./Dublin) scored her first of the day and team-leading 14th of the season taking a pass from Ally Shrader (Novi, Mich./Mercy). It was the first collegiate assist for Shrader. The sixth Titan goal came from Kylie Birney (Plymouth, Mich./Ladywood) who tallied her fifth of the year on an unassisted goal with five seconds to play.

Keuler completed the hat trick with her third goal 47 seconds in the second half giving Detroit three goals in the span of a minute and making it a 10-7 game.

The fourth straight Titan goal came from Michaela Schwartz (Hugo, Minn./Centennial), who had her 11th of the season, with 23:24 to play as the Coastal lead was now 10-8. Birney scored her second of the day to make it 10-9 with 19:43 left in regulation.

The teams traded goals with Hamze scoring to make it 11-10 for Coastal Carolina before Campbell completed the hat trick to tie the game, 11-11, with 11:20 remaining in regulation.

Campbell would not be finished yet as she scored her fourth of the day to give Detroit its first lead. Lindsey Saunders (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) added her name to the score sheet with her ninth of the season and UDM was up 13-11 with 5:05 to play in regulation.

Coastal Carolina crept within one and tied the game, 13-13, with 1:08 to play and then would score the game-winner with 52 seconds left in the game to give the Chanticleers the one-goal advantage that would be the final.

Over the course of the game, Coastal Carolina had the narrow edge in shots (30-22), ground balls (23-22), draw controls (15-14).

The Titans will stay in South Carolina and move to Rock Hill to play at Winthrop at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
