Pedroso's 11 Points Leads Lebanon Valley Past LaRoche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Malik Pedroso set a program record with 11 points as he led Lebanon Valley to a 17-11 win over LaRoche on Saturday.

The junior scored five goals with six assists and partnered up front with Alex Beard, who had five goals and a helper, as the Dutchmen (5-2) blew out to a 13-3 lead at the half. LVC dominated the first half, leading 27-16 on shots with three man-up goals as they built what would prove to be an insurmountable lead. Pedroso bettered his single-game mark of nine points, and he also tied his game record of six assists.

Klayton Garman scored two goals with three assists, and Ian Schmid potted two goals. Scott Sutton, Bryan Cooney, and Andrew Dennison also had strikes. Dustin Reykdal and Bryce Wells led LaRoche (1-6) with three goals each.

Reykdal scored the game's first goal, but LVC responded with six straight, including three from Beard, and Dennison ended the quarter with an unassisted tally to make it 7-2. Reykdal again opened the second quarter man-up, but the Dutchmen hit the next six until halftime, with Pedroso scoring three of them to all but put the game away. The junior teamed with Garman and Cooney to outscore the Red Hawks 3-1 in the third, and LaRoche finished the game with a fourth-quarter comeback attempt on a 7-1 run.

Mike Moll (6 saves) and Kevin Krasley (12 saves) split the game with Moll earning the win; Eugene LaBorde made 12 stops in the loss.

LVC begins Commonwealth Conference play Wednesday night at #3 Stevenson.
