Klepper Scores Three as No. 1 Le Moyne Overpowers Bentley

Syracuse, N.Y. Top-ranked Le Moyne got multiple goals from four players en route to a 13-3 victory over Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

Junior midfielder Andrew Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard first just 1:25 into the contest as he rolled to the middle of the field and a fired a shot into the back of the net from 10 yards out. Three and one-half minutes later, sophomore midfielder Joe Corapi (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) recorded his ninth goal of the season into the top left corner after driving from the restraining line to the right goal line extended.

After 12 minutes of scoreless play, the Falcons cut their deficit in half at the 12:59 mark of the second quarter as Matt Dente curled to the left edge of the crease from behind the goal for his second tally of the season.

Junior midfielder Kam Bumpus (Marshfield, Mass./Needham/Bridgton Academy) pushed Le Moyne's lead back to two with an underhand shot into the top corner with 9:07 remaining in the half. Senior attackman Tyler Prevost (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart/Onondaga C.C.) registered his conference-leading 28th point of the year with an unassisted goal at the 3:56 mark.

Freshman attackman Mike Jenkins (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) finished off the scoring in the half with 2:19 left after cutting down the middle of the box, receiving a pass from senior attackman Nate Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and sending a shot inside the right post.

As he did in the first half, Chadderdon opened the scoring in the second half by dodging to the right edge of the crease and firing a shot into the upper left corner of the goal for his ninth tally of the campaign at the 10:58 mark. Bumpus picked up his second goal of the day with 8:04 left in the third quarter after weaving through the Bentley defense on the left side of the goal.

After graduate student midfielder Aaron Cahill (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland/Onondaga C.C.) caused a Bentley turnover, Chadderdon took a pass from Bumpus in transition and then sent a feed eight yards in front of the goal to junior midfielder Matt Klepper (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Merrimack), who rifled in his seventh goal of the season at the 2:26 mark.

The Dolphins extended their run to 11 straight goals with five markers over the opening 8:04 of the fourth quarter. Following a Bentley slashing penalty, Jenkins tallied his fifth goal of the year with 11:01 remaining after dodging from behind the cage.

After alternating turnovers on the ensuing face-off, Frechette fed Klepper on the left edge of the crease, where he faked a shot high and then put a shot inside the right post for his second goal of the game. Le Moyne took a double-digit lead with 9:07 remaining as sophomore attackman Kevin Kelly (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) scored from the right edge of the crease off a pass from behind the goal by Jenkins.

In an extra-man situation after another Bentley slashing penalty, freshman midfielder Nick Kline (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) netted his third goal of the campaign from the left side of the goal off a pass from the goal line extended from classmate Andrew Jackson (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) with 8:31 to play. Klepper finished Le Moyne's scoring in the game with 6:56 remaining after taking the ball off a restart and racing around the left edge of the cage for his ninth goal of the year.

Bentley (1-2, 1-1 NE-10) snapped Le Moyne's 11-0 run and its own scoring drought of 39:50 as Joe Herbert picked up a loose ball by the right post and sent in his first goal of the season with 4:09 remaining. Matt Brigham completed the scoring in the contest with 2:29 left after dodging from behind the goal and scoring from the left edge of the crease.
