Parker Paces Davidson to Big South Win vs. Longwood

Senior Kathleen Battle/Nellysford led the Lancers with four draw controls. Sophomore goalkeeper Christian Acker/Moorestown, New Jersey took the decision in net for the Lancers, logging two saves and allowing 15 goals in 44+ minutes of action. Freshman keeper Caitlyn Miller/Vero Beach, Fla. came off the bench to finish the game, recording two saves and two goals against.

The Lancers scored the first goal of the day when Brentlinger converted on a free position shot at 26:58. After four scoreless minutes, the Wildcats posted their first goal by converting on a free position shot of their own. Longwood would not find the back of the net for the remainder of the half, as Davidson tallied eight unanswered goals to take a 9-1 advantage into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Longwood offense went on the attack, as Prasnicki dribbled around the net and scored unassisted less than one minute into the second half. Brentlinger followed with another free-position goal at 28:31, cutting the Lancers deficit to six at 9-3.

However, Davidson quickly put the game out of reach with another streak of unanswered goals. This time, the Wildcats scored five in a row during a four-minute span, taking a 14-3 advantage with just over 21 minutes remaining.

McHugh ended the silence for Longwood when she connected with Brentlinger at 17:59 to make it a 14-4 game. Davidson tallied two more scores, but Longwood retaliated with a pair of its own, as McHugh found Jacobson open for the shot on goal, and Trainer converted on a free position attempt, making it 16-6 with 8:33 to play.

The Wildcats scored one more time in the waning minutes of the contest, but Longwood tallied the final goal of the outing on an Arndt-McHugh connection, although it was not enough to overcome the 17-7 deficit.
