Neumann Hands the Cyclones Their Fourth Straight Loss

FLEMINGTON, N.J. (March 23, 2013) Centenary was on the wrong end of a 17-5 game against Neumann this afternoon at Cyclone Field. The CSAC loss marks their fourth straight.

The Knights managed to score the game's first three goals to go up 3-0 barely nine minutes into the opening half. The Cyclones would get on the board at the 20:05 mark when Devin Sutko (Cinnaminson, Cinnaminson High School) found Nicole Judd (St. Louis, MO, Lafayette) for a goal to cut the deficit to 3-1. However, that goal would be the only goal the Cyclones would score in the first half as Neumann ran a very impressive offensive set and took an 11-1 lead into the half.

The second half started on a positive note when Carlie Schmitt (Stewartstown, Kennard-Dale High School) found the back of the cage at the 27:29 mark to get the scoring started. However, again the Knights would put the kibosh down and go on to do dominate the flow of play, scoring the next three goals.

Trailing 14-2 the Cyclones showed signs of life when Alysia Pinkerton (Frenchtown, NJ, Delaware Valley Regional) scored on a free position shot and was quickly followed up by an unassisted Allie Swartz (Marlton, NJ, Cherokee) goal to make the score 14-4. None the less, Neumann would go on to score three of the final four games to make the final score 17-5.

With the loss the Cyclones fall to 2-4 on the season and will next be in action on Thursday, March 28th when hit the road to take on Virginia Wesleyan College at 1:00 PM.
