Coppa Nets Five as No. 3 North Carolina Tops Boston College

Rix posted BC's first goal of the game as she moved from the left side of the arc to the center and fired a shot to the back of the net making the score 7-1 with 12:43 to play in the half. After another UNC goal, Stanwick scored for the Eagles wrapping around the goal to her right and cutting the Tar Heels' edge to 8-2 with 6:30 left in the first.

UNC scored four of the opening period's last five goals to take a 12-3 lead into the break with McCarthy tallying BC's goal during that stretch. After drawing a foul, McCarthy ran straight at goal on the restart and snuck a shot into the goal.

North Carolina scored the second half's first four goals before Rix received a pass from Stanwick and attacked the net from left to right and scored to cut UNC's lead to 16-4 with 18:45 left. Stanwick scored two of the game's next three goals using a similar wrap-around move on both shots as on her first tally of the night to bring BC within 17-6 with just over 14 minutes to play.

After two UNC goals, the Eagles scored five unanswered goals to close the game. During the run, Rix scored three times while Stanwick and Ceglarski each scored once.

Next, Boston College hosts Syracuse on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. on the Newton Field.
