No. 2 Stevenson Storms Past Hood in CAC Opener

STEVENSON, Md.--Hood (3-7, 0-1 Commonwealth) dropped a 22-3 decision to the No. 2 Stevenson Mustangs (7-1, 2-0 Commonwealth) Saturday evening in the Commonwealth Conference opener for the Blazers.

Senior Doug Brisbane netted single tallies in the first and fourth periods and Mike Higgs recorded his tenth score of the spring while Chris Wilbur dished his sixth assist on the year.

Randolph Clark recorded eight face-off wins and six ground balls while James Weger, Mark Filuta, Chris Patschak, Cody Mai and Clark all forced Mustang turnovers.

John Martin got the start in the cage and rejected 13 Stevenson attempts while Joseph McCulloh contributed eight saves in the final 28:58.

The Mustangs were the unanimous choice of the Commonwealth coaches to win the league after making a national semifinal appearance in 2012. Ten different Mustangs got into the scoring column on the night.

Hood continues Commonwealth action Thursday at Albright College. Face-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
