Yellow Jackets Plundered by Vikings

DEFIANCE, Ohio The Yellow Jackets played their second game in as many days on Sunday afternoon, as the Purple and Gold faced Augustana. Defiance had no answer for the Vikings on the blustery day, as Augustana won the contest by a final of 18-2.

The Vikings got on the scoreboard first when Colin Haley found the back of the net for Augustana's first goal of the game. The Vikings went on to score four more goals in the first frame while shutting out the Jackets to grab a 5-0 lead after one quarter.

Augustana scored the first three goals of the second quarter before Defiance got into the scoring column. DC's Tyler Clark scored an unassisted goal with 10 minutes left before halftime. Clark was not finished, as the freshman struck again just three minutes later to draw the Jackets within six at 8-2. The multi-goal performance was his second of the season and the forward now has five scores on the year.

After Clark's two goals, the Vikings wasted no time in responding with three goals of their own before the break to take a commanding 11-2 lead into the half.

Augustana dominated the second half, outscoring Defiance 7-0 in the final 30 minutes to cruise to an 18-2 victory.

The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-8 with the loss and are now 0-2 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. The Purple and Gold will be back in action on Saturday, March 30, as DC hosts Fontbonne at 1:00 p.m.
