Holy Cross Holds off Vermont for Victory

The lone goal of the third quarter came from Vermont's Augie Remien to bring the game within one goal. The Crusaders came out in the fourth quarter with another Kennedy goal assisted by Shanahan again.

With 2:44 on the clock, Shanahan scored a goal assisted by Haarmann to make the score 7-4. Twenty-eight seconds later, Remien netted his second goal of the half. With 1:33 left in the game, Kennedy secured the 8-5 Crusader victory with his second hat trick of the season and 10th of his career.

The Crusaders outshot the Catamounts 36-30 while both Holy Cross freshman goalie Chris Cousin (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Vermont goalie Justin Rosenberg posted 13 saves each. The Crusaders went 21-23 on their clears, while the Catamounts went 18-22. Neither team scored on an extra-man opportunity, both going 0-4 on their attempts. The Crusaders won nine of 16 face-offs.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, March 30, when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to take on Patriot League opponent No. 7 Bucknell at 1:00 p.m.
