Schwarzmann Helps Top-Ranked Terps Escape Towson

Schwarzmann racked up three goals in the first nine minutes of the second stanza to give Maryland a 9-5 lead and scores from Mendez and McPartland pushed the advantage to six before three consecutive Towson goals to cap the game sealed the scoring at 11-8, giving Maryland its seventh road win of the year.

Maryland was a stellar 16 for 17 on clear attempts compared to Towson's 15 for 21 mark. Schwarzmann was a master of the two-way role securing two caused turnovers and seven ground balls in addition to her work offensively. Taylor Cummings boasted six draw controls.

"Credit to Towson, I thought they came out extremely hard," head coach Cathy Reese said. "I thought we lacked helping each other defensively early and we were not as sharp as we'd like to be in our shooting, but we'll work on it and get ready for Penn Saturday which is an always an exciting game."

Maryland now welcomes a four-game homestand as it first hosts Penn Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
